A Desert JanuaryPosted on January 2, 2014
December is lovely in the desert, but January is even better. The relaxed pace is perfect for getting back in shape after the indulgence of the holidays. With days that are bright and cool (only very rarely cold), and postcard-perfect skies, January in Tucson can feel like one giant, open-air spa.
What is there to DO in all this sunshine? Here at Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa, the Sonoran Spa, stables, bike trails and canyon hikes provide plenty of options. You’ll also find us glued to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. There’s nothing like cheering on Team USA’s snow and ice mastery while nursing a drink by our own Olympic-sized pool.
Elsewhere in the city, downtown Tucson’s retail and restaurant scene has blossomed over the last few months, and even returning visitors are sure to find something new and fun. Closer to the resort, fans of artist Ted DeGrazia should check out rarely seen works in his exhibit “Wild Horses,” soon ending its six-month run at his namesake gallery.
As January winds down, you’ll also see preparations for two big events coming up in February: the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show and the Tucson Rodeo. If you’re coming to either of these, or to the Tucson Festival of Books in March, please book early. Rooms go fast every year!
