Westward Look Wyndham Grand Employees Tend to Chef’s Garden

The monthlong project is part of company’s Count on Me! guest service program.

Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa’s volunteer Count on Me! committee has dedicated the month of March to tend to the resort’s popular Chef’s Garden.

“Every month, the Count on Me! members take on different charities and projects,” said the resort’s Director of Human Resources, Eduardo Fernandez, who is an adviser to the committee with General Manager David Yamada. “In March, members decided to take on the Chef’s Garden, to become educated on what it does and how to plant, weed and sow.”

The Chef’s Garden is one of four specialty gardens on Westward Look Wyndham Grand’s 80 acres. The organic garden features vegetables, herbs, fruits, greens and edible flowers grown at the request of Executive Chef Antonio Rodriguez for his use in the award-winning GOLD restaurant.

The Count on Me! service culture is an initiative of Wyndham Worldwide to enhance guest experiences. The three pillars of Count on Me! are:

Fernandez said the committee, which represents each department at Westward Look Wyndham Grand, adopts projects away from the resort as well as on-site projects.

After 10 years of existence, the Chef’s Garden was expanded last year, nearly doubling in size to 2,400 square feet and a 300-square-foot grape arbor was added. Landscape Manager Raymundo Ocampo leads regular tours of the Chef’s Garden for resort guests.

The resort’s other specialty gardens include a Butterfly and Hummingbird Garden with seasonal blooms to attract desert pollinators, a Wellness Garden with native botanicals used in desert-inspired treatments at Sonoran Spa and a fragrant Herb Garden.
