Westward Look Wyndham Grand Hosts Celebrity Chef Showcase

Famed Chef Rick Tramonto paired with GOLD Executive Chef Antonio Rodriguez

Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa is excited to host the 2014 Celebrity Chef Showcase, presented by the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance in conjunction with the 2014 Tucson Festival of Books. The event will feature the resort’s special guest – world renowed Chef Rick Tramonto – and GOLD’s executive chef, Antonio Rodriguez, along with culinary experts from around the world creating signature food from their latest published cookbooks on Saturday, March 15, at 6 p.m.

“Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort and Spa has a long local tradition as a historic site and a long history of serving award-winning cuisine,” said General Manager David Yamada. “It’s such an honor to host this event, which will present the finest cuisine from some of the world’s best chefs and, more importantly, raise money to advance culinary arts as well as arts therapy and education programs in southern Arizona.”

Besides Tramonto and Rodriguez, other celebrity and local chefs expected at the Celebrity Chef Showcase are: Chef Sandy D’Amato with Chef Albert Hall of Acacia; Chef Hugo Ortega with Chef Maria Mazon of BOCA Tacos y Tequila; Chef Ricardo Munoz Zurita with Chef Mario Diaz de Sandy of Pima Community College; Chef Suzanne Goin with Chef Ginny Wooters of The Abbey, Jax Kitchen and Poppy’s Kitchen; Chef Jeff Michaud with Chef Massimo Tenino of Tavolino; Chef Michael Stebner with Chef Omar Huerta of Wildflower and Chef Liz Neumark with Chef Kevin Fink of Zona 78. Chef Ryan Clark, Tucson’s three-time “Iron Chef,” will also appear along with special guest restaurateur Sam Fox.

Tickets for the 2014 Celebrity Chef Showcase are $125 per person through the SAACA website or by calling the box office at (520) 797-3959 Ext. 0. Proceeds benefit paid internships for Slow Food Southern Arizona and SAACA’s arts therapy and education programs.

Tramonto also will be the featured guest chef at Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa’s GOLD restaurant on Thursday, March 13, along with Chef Rodriguez.
